Crown
Crowns are used to help support a tooth weakened by decay or a previous, large restoration. Crowns are also a good way to cover discolored or poorly shaped teeth. A crown is made with gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination to form a natural looking tooth structure that will withstand chewing forces.
Usually, a crown will require two visits, as the construction is quite precise. During the first visit, the tooth is prepared to accept a crown, an impression is taken, and a temporary crown is made. During the second visit, the permanent crown is cemented to the prepared tooth.
