Sensitive Teeth
Sensitive teeth arise from a wide variety of causes. At West 10th Dental Group, we will be happy to discuss possible causes for any tooth sensitivity that you may experience.
Some sensitivity is very short lived, and most people will have such sensitivity appear and disappear occasionally. However, if a sensitive area persists for more that a day or two, you should seek advice from your dental professional.
In general, sensitive teeth are caused by either some stress to the tooth, or by lack of adequate protective enamel. Stresses include chemicals in food, drink, or oral hygiene products (bleaching or tarter control products are notorious). Inadequate enamel can result from decay, wear, fracture, or gum recession.
If you find that you experience a tooth sensitive to temperature, sugar, salt, or biting pressure, do not hesitate to contact your dental professionals at West 10th Dental Group to make a diagnosis. Often a simple solution exists for sensitive teeth!
