A history of success!

Dental Implants are an excellent way to replace one or more missing teeth. The simplest way to think of a dental implant is as an artificial tooth root made from a titanium post. This artificial root takes the place of a natural tooth root, and it can then be used as an attachment for missing teeth. Since the 1970’s, dental implants have proven to be highly reliable, highly efficient, and long-lasting. Overall success rates now exceed 90 percent. At West 10th Dental Group, we have completed the replacement of thousands of teeth using dental implants. We continue to find that patients with dental implants are some of the most satisfied patients in our practice!

The Benefits

Advantages of dental implants are unique and exciting. Because of the process known as osseointegration, the dental implant becomes a true replacement for the tooth that was lost. It is not necessary to rely on a patient’s other natural teeth to support a new tooth. In addition, the jaw bone around a dental implant is maintained and healthier than if a tooth is left missing or replaced by another means. The integration with the jaw also means that replacement teeth are far more stable and lifelike. Individual teeth, bridged teeth, or full arches of teeth can all be supported with dental implants!

The Process

The steps to complete an implant treatment begin with a diagnostic workup by the dentists at West 10th Dental Group. Appropriate x-rays and models of the mouth allow a surgeon to place the implant in the best possible position in the jaw. The surgical procedure is completed as an in-office procedure. In some cases today, teeth can be placed immediately on the implants. Other cases require additional time for the osseointegration process, and the final teeth are not created for several months.
