If you have a single missing tooth, or soon will, you have a few options for fixing that flawed smile. Partial dentures and bridges can both put a new tooth in that gap. A dental implant in Indianapolis, IN is your top choice for a replacement tooth. With it, you can laugh, speak, and smile again with complete confidence.

As a multispecialty practice, we have doctors on staff who completed years of advanced training in dental implants and other treatments in post-dental school residencies. With the expertise of an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, a periodontist, general restorative dentists, and others on our team, West 10th Dental Group can provide comprehensive dental implant care. Dr. Bowling Talks about who is a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Three Steps to One Amazing Smile

Step 1: Personalized Consultation and Planning
Most patients come to us already eligible for dental implants. Those who aren’t usually can be after some preliminary procedures. We’ll determine that during your personalized consultation while also weighing other restorative options and their costs. Your consultation also allows us to conduct a full examination, which includes taking 3D images of your mouth with our in-house cone beam CT scanner (CBCT). This innovative technology captures detailed images in just seconds and works with a fraction of the radiation of conventional CT scanners, making it both convenient and safe. If dental implants are the ideal solution for you, we can start planning your dental implant placement. An essential tool in your implant placement procedure is your customized surgical guide. Designed just for you, your guide shows us the exact location, angle, and depth at which to place your implant for a natural, enduring fit. Technology provided by the guide manufacturer enables us to carry out the placement process virtually in advance of the actual procedure to ensure a smooth process with excellent results. We then send all the necessary information off to the manufacturer so they can fabricate your guide for use on your next visit.

Step 2: Dental Implant Placement
When you come back to our office for your implant placement, our priority is to make you comfortable with one of our sedation options. Although only local anesthetic is required, if you have dental anxiety, our in-house oral surgeon is certified to administer IV sedation which can put you in a sleeplike, pain-free state. If you need any other procedures completed before your implant placement—bone grafting to rebuild jawbone that has decayed as a result of your tooth loss, a sinus lift to put a sunken sinus back into place, or ridge augmentation to restore the shape and appearance of your jawline—we’ll do them before continuing with placement. Our team will then slip your customized surgical guide over your gums to begin the placement process. The guide has a precisely positioned hole through which we place a high-quality Keystone titanium dental implant into your jawbone. To accelerate your healing process, we use guided tissue regeneration. This consists of putting a natural membrane between the bone that holds the implant and the gums that surround it. Since bone and soft tissue heal at different speeds, this protective barrier allows both to heal without interference. As the final step of your implant placement visit, we can immediately put a temporary crown on your new implant. You’ll begin to enjoy having a full smile again the same day!

Step 3: Recovery and Restoration
Healing after implant surgery usually takes an average of four or more months. However, you’ll be able to eat and speak comfortably during that time. Once your implant has fully fused with your jawbone, you can return to our office to receive your final restoration. This is a customized crown made to blend seamlessly with the rest of your teeth for a harmonious smile. You’ll leave our office that day with that smile gap behind you—and a more satisfying life ahead of you!
